To Santo Domingo
Stopped at a most wonderful garden of all sorts of trees and flowers. One of the best I have ever seen, and this was free. It is behind the Bourgainville Hotel and certainly geared for tourists.

We walked and sat and enjoyed the flowers and the fine, cool breeze. We climbed a small tower. Elizabeth caught a glance at many birds, some she had not seen before. Luckily she remembered her binoculars.
We ate there, having the special of the day, a trout dish. The entire meal cost under $35 and it was very fancy. I'll blog it all when I get back home.
I listened to a band of three guitars warm up in the lobby for a birthday party.
Great day.
I did a bit more shopping, but I forgot my credit card and only had a small amount of colones left, so I did not get quite everything I needed. But I do have trout for tomorrow's breakfast.
No rush tomorrow, but on Monday we have to go back to school. Early too.
Robert showed up with my bedding and apologies. So I have a real bed to sleep in tonight.
We still would like a bathmat, alfambra de baño, for the shower area, as it is slippery. None at Mas x Menos.
I am too tired to write much Spanish today. My Spanish has been off all day.
Lyft works great for us if we have wifi connections. We still don't undertand the phone package. It may cost ten dollars a day.
A cleaner comes on Monday and cleans house and will do laundry. That is included in the rent.

Friday
We have had a hard time getting the bedding for the second bed. I don't know what the issue is. I slept with just the comforter wrapped around me last night and will again tonight although at ten thirty Robert said he was on his way.
Well, we still had a fine day.
We walked to the marke which is just a couple blocks and brought home guaro, Panema rum, Well, here is the list in Spanish
Bueno salsa pimiento. Y Chichárrones con Para beber tenemos Ron de Panama, se yama Cortez, y Caceque Guaro (¡Claro!) Dos Pinos DIP. Muy Sabroso.
Esta mañana caminamos a Mas x Menos. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Mas-x-Menos/170546296340125?rf=159837964172147
Sure made a great breakfast.
Then we took the bus to see the school. It is a bit of a confusing walk from the bus stop to the school, so we may depend on Lyft or a cab. From home we can get Lyft using wifi for the request and for any questions. Away, if we make or receive just one phone call, we pay ten dollars and then we can do as much as we want for twenty four hours. Coming back we hailed a cab and even getting into traffic from an accident, we paid just two dollars more than Lyft. So now if we start the 24 hour phone charge, it won't be until later in the day tomorrow.
We could not find a decent restaurant downtown. The school recommended one, but it was all coffee and pastry. We stopped at a take out place that also had a few dumpy tables upstairs. We ordered. It was hard to get just water. Everything had sugar. But then I had this grand meal of some sort of smoked pork, two salads, deep fried yucca and a few nice hot peppers. It was all delicious.
From their we walked to find a bus, but it was confusing, so we hailed the cab at the train station. Good choice.
At home I've been drinking the rum and the guaro. Nice stuff and cheap enough. Not as cheap as Spain for wine, but there were some two dollar bottles I'll try next time.
I found a stevia powder. That was nice. I forgot I might want Truvia.
The coffee was good, but not yet up to what Elizabeth likes. Probably the roast is just not dark enough. We have three chances for coffee plantation tours and can buy some to taste and to bring home.
We visited the school and had our examination. I am in one class and she is in another but both are in the morning. Then we dance or take a tour or do some cooking. We will get our money's worth from this school. The people were just grand.
Heredia is more like what I expected San Pablo to be. San Pablo is more residential with fewer stores. It is great to the this major super market right near us. Then we made friends with a fellow just around the corner who has a small grocery. At least we can get some veggies from him, and eggs.
Dificil.
El cerdo y saladas son muy sabroso. El yucca tambien.
Elizabeth come pollo frito.

Still keeping my Facebook posts in Spanish. It is a great help to write a little each day and learn a bit. I start by writing Spanish and only go to a translator when I am totally stuck. Then I check spelling and post. Reyolds posted some funny harassment.
I’m reading this post in Amurka, boy. We talk Amurikan here! Don’t be talkin’ that immigrant talk.
I answered

Well, I can't get all of my thoughts down if I only write Spanish.
We took the JetBlue from Fort Lauderdale to San Jose and then were met by a very pleasant fellow who took us to the house. We had much conversation with him, and I learned some Spanish from him.
After Gracias here in Costa Rica it is considered polite to say con much gusto rather than the European da nada.
We took a Lyft to the mall. Not too impressive because it is much like out malls, but we got our money changed and then had a meal at Railroad Pass. It was pricey at $32, but very tasty. No guaro. I had an expensive rum. Elizabeth had a chicken dinner. I ate a chorizo sausage and the grilled vegetables. All was very delicious.
We took a Lyft home and walked around the corner to a very little market. The fellow spoke English with a Brooklyn accent. Very funny! We bought eggs and he sent us to another market for coffee creamer more like Elizabeth enjoys.
Now we are home and very tired. It is not very late. Time to unpack and get settled.
