TOURIST WEEKEND TRIPS

Through the school we met tour guide Jerry who took great care of us on a weekend trip to Monteverde and Arenal.
I'm not going to Arenal again.  It is never erupting.  It does not seem very special to me.  But Jerry took us to a stream that comes from the volcano, bringing hot water.  We had a grand time there.

In Santa Elana where we stayed,  I went for an afternoon on my own.  Elizabeth needed to sleep. I went to have supper at a restaurant built into a tree.

I also had coffee at a great little coffee place.  I liked Santa Elana.
We stayed in very nice rooms for a "hostal"   There was a common area with a bar.  We brought in some roast chicken and drank a good bit of guaro.  It was an easy area.
Here Elizabeth drinks one of their colorful concoctions.  That one was free.  The others were a bit pricey.




On one hike we visited a hummingbird area.  It was just great.

We went on a night hike to see animals and insects of the cloud forest.  It was a bit of a tough hike and some climbing up stairs in the dark, but the guide was easy on us, and we saw everything except the sloths.  We made up for that at the Tucan Reserve.(see other post)

 This frog will jump a bit.  I have never had a good video clip load on a blog.  Pretty cool.

 This was a hike through the canopy.  Part of it included these marvelous bridges.  It was a rainy, cold day.  We did not do all of it, but we did enough to get the idea.  We went with one of our friends from the school.  The other friend when zip lining instead.
